We assume that the root of this problem is the infamous reputation of university research activities, which were characterized by ‘gatekeepers’ as ‘hit and run’. Unfortunately this is true with the conventional
research approaches whereby the researchers themselves are primarily the ones who benefit. They discontinue their work once they meet their objectives, or their time or financial support
runs out. The community may be left with no knowledge about the results for a long time or forever; and of course with no benefit from their participation.
